Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for the launch of the all-new Swift fourth generation in India. It has been reported that the launch will take place on May 9. However, prior to this official launch, a few details about this forthcoming hatchback have been shared online. As per the reports, the Suzuki Swift will be equipped with 6 standard airbags, LED fog lights, and a few other comfort and convenience features.
Maruti Suzuki Swift fourth generation: New details
According to the reports, the company will be offering the new Swift with 6 airbags as standard. This will make the Swift the second vehicle in the Maruti Suzuki lineup to offer this safety feature. Apart from this, it has been revealed that it will be getting the same 9-inch Smartplay Pro infotainment screen.
We have already seen this screen on the new Baleno, Brezza, Fronx, and Grand Vitara. The Swift will now become the fifth model to get this floating touchscreen. It will also come with an Arkamys sound system. Most likely, it will also offer wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay as well. Other feature additions include rear AC vents and a wireless phone charger.
It has also been reported that the new Swift will be getting LED fog lights as well. The fourth-generation Swift is also reportedly going to offer Suzuki Connect, and USB A and C ports. The leaked document has also revealed that the rear suspension travel of the Swift has been increased by 26 mm.

As stated above, the new Swift is slated to be launched on May 9. There is a lot of anticipation for the launch of this hatchback. It is currently the most popular hatchback in India, and the new model could add to its popularity. Presently, the new Swift has already been launched in the international markets.
Sadly, there are a few features that most likely the India-spec model will be missing out on. The main such feature is ADAS. The company internationally offers the Swift with Adaptive Cruise Control, Driver Monitoring System, Adaptive High Beam Assist, and Lane Keep Supporting Function.
It also offers it with Dual Sensor Brake Support and Road Sign Recognition Function. Owing to these features the Swift recently received 4-stars in Japanese NCAP. However, we do not expect the Indian model to come with these high-end features. It will also be missing out on the CVT transmission option which it gets internationally.
Swift Fourth Generation: Design and Engine
In terms of design, the new Swift has been given a ton of new exterior design updates. It will now get a much sleeker and modern-looking design. The front will get new Z-shaped LED DRLs, a new gloss black honeycomb grille, and a new bonnet and front bumper.
On the side profile, it will be getting a set of new diamond-cut alloy wheels, traditional rear door handles. The rear will also get a new appearance with new LED taillights and a new rear bumper.
In terms of the powertrain, the new Swift will be drawing its power from a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine that is tuned for better efficiency and performance in the city. The Z12E series engine is expected to get mild hybrid tech, which Maruti offers in its other models.
