All-New Nissan Kicks Unveiled: Why Nissan Should Bring This SUV To India

Japanese automotive giant Nissan has taken covers off the newest iteration of its compact SUV, Kicks. The new second-generation Kicks was unveiled ahead of the 2024 New York Auto Show. This time around, the company has given this SUV a massive exterior and interior design overhaul. And it looks like the new Kicks could become a huge hit if the company decides to bring it to India.

For the second-generation model, Nissan has gone with a completely new design language. The SUV, unlike its previous iteration, now looks a lot more futuristic. It boasts an aggressive exterior design with a bold stance. The new Kicks has grown in size, and is now longer and wider.

The 2024 Nissan Kicks is based on the same platform as the Mitsubishi XForce. Both of these SUVs boast similar dimensions and share a number of mechanical components. This time around, the Nissan Kicks will use a single platform for all markets.

The center will get a sizeable Nissan emblem. It will also get an SR badge on the right side of the grille. It will also get a thicker LED DRL as well as a pair of sleek LED headlights. Coming to the side profile, the SUV will get a set of aero blade-style alloy wheels. These will measure 19 inches.

Additionally, the side profile will get a strong shoulder line that will run across the length of the car. A unique design on the lower side skirt of the SUV has also been incorporated by Nissan to add to the sporty appearance of this SUV.

As for the rear-end design, the company has gone with an equally aggressive design. It will now boast LED taillights with three horizontal lights. It will also get a big digital instrument gauge cluster which seems to be housed in the same frame as the infotainment screen. Apart from this, it will have sleek air conditioning vents and an automatic climate control system.

2024 Nissan Kicks powertrain

Coming to the powertrain specifications, the new second-generation model will come with a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder petrol engine. Why Nissan should bring new Kicks to India?

As of yet, it has not been confirmed if the Nissan Kicks will be coming to India. Most likely, it could bring it to the Indian subcontinent as the model will be manufactured in left-hand as well as right-hand drive configurations. However, the exact plans for an India launch have not been revealed.

If Nissan does decide to bring the Kicks second generation to India, it could prove as a good move for the brand. Currently, the brand only has a single model which is the Magnite sub-compact SUV on sale. And the new Kicks looks a lot better than its predecessor which was a huge flop in the Indian market.

The previous generation Nissan Kicks, although a good vehicle on paper, did not resonate with the Indian car buyers. Many believed that it looked very bulbous and did not have that SUV stance which its competition was offering. It was also less equipped in terms of features which resulted in lackluster sales. Interiors were quite dated, too.

Most likely if Nissan brings the Kicks second generation to India, it could give stiff competition to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and many other compact SUVs in the country.
