The South Korean automotive giant Hyundai Motors India Limited has once again taken the second spot in the country. Last month in February, Tata Motors dethroned Hyundai to take this position. What’s even more impressive is that Hyundai has also clocked its highest-ever monthly sales recorded in March 2024. Like usual, the first spot has been captured by Maruti Suzuki India Limited. Meanwhile, the third spot has been taken by Tata Motors.
Hyundai Motors: March 2024 Sales
Hyundai has regained the second spot with impressive performance in March. The company reported domestic sales of 53,001 vehicles during the month. On a year-on-year basis, the company reported a growth of a decent 5%. In the same month last year, the company reported total sales of 50,600 units.
In addition to the growth in domestic sales, Hyundai’s export figures have also soared up. The company reported that its exports surged by 16% in March 2024. It mentioned that a total of 12,600 vehicles have been exported to international markets. Last year, the exports in March were 10,900 units.
Hyundai’s annual sales for FY24 have reached a staggering 7,77,876 vehicles. This figure represents an 8% growth compared to the previous fiscal year. The total sales in the last fiscal were reported at 7,20,565 units. According to experts, a key driver behind Hyundai’s success has been its diverse product portfolio.
The company is currently catering to the varied preferences of Indian consumers. With models like the Creta, i20, Venue, and Verna, the company has managed to grab a decent market share in the country.
Tata Motors: March 2024 Sales
As for Hyundai Motors India Limited’s direct rival, Tata Motors, the company managed to post a sales tally of 50,297 units. Last year, in the same period, the company reported sales of 44,225 units. This growth translates to a year-on-year growth of a commendable 14 percent.
As for the total sales posted by Tata Motors for FY24, it was reported that the company dispatched a total of 5,73,495 vehicles. In the previous fiscal year, it managed to post sales of 5,41,087 vehicles in FY23. This translates to a 6% growth between the two fiscal years.
On the other hand, Tata Motors’ commercial sales saw a dip of 4% during FY24 from FY23. It has been reported that the total sales in FY24 were 3,78,060. However, in FY23 this figure was 3,93,317 vehicles.
Maruti Suzuki: March 2024 Sales
In terms of sales of the country’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, it has been reported that the company posted sales of 1,52,718 units in March 2024. Last year in the same month, this figure was around 1,32,763.
On a year-on-year basis, the growth has been reported at 15%. As for the total sales of FY24, Maruti Suzuki sold a staggering 17,59,881 units. Meanwhile, in the last fiscal, it was reported that it sold 16,06,870 vehicles in FY23. This translates to a 9.5% growth.
Maruti Suzuki is looking to further extend its lead in the Indian car market with the launch of the new Swift, Dzire and eVX in the country. Most likely the Swift will be launched this month itself. It will then be followed by the Dzire and eVX in the coming months.
