After multiple teasers, leaks, and spy shots, Mahindra launched their much-awaited XUV 3XO. This new SUV in the XUV lineup will replace the existing Mahindra XUV 300. With a length of 3990 mm, width of 1821 mm, and height of 1647 mm, the XUV 3XO will compete in the sub-4m segment, rivalling the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite and Tata Nexon. Today, we will cover this all-new SUV’s lower, mid and top-variant and learn what it has to offer. The walkaround video is uploaded by popular YouTuber Gagan Choudhary. Now, let’s delve into the details of the car.
Top Variant
The host starts the video with the car keys, typical Mahindra flip keys with lock/unlock and boot unlock features. The DRLs of the car are similar to what we have seen on bigger Mahindra SUVs. The headlights are LED projector units along with a reflector-based LED setup for high beam.
The grille is finished in gloss black with chrome elements, resembling the XUV 300. The front parking sensors, a segment-first feature in the XUV 300, have been reduced to one from four. Mahindra has introduced Level 2 ADAS, which functions based on input from both a camera and radar. This is a segment first feature as competitors only offer Level 1 ADAS.
The car’s side profile features 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The host mentions that there are not many changes in the side profile, and it looks quite similar to its predecessor, the XUV 300.
The most significant upgrade at the rear is the taillights. The XUV 3XO, following the industry trend, comes with connected LED tail lamps as a standard feature. The interiors of the car come with a major upgrade. The dashboard layout of the 3XO closely resembles the Mahindra XUV 400 EV.
Key changes include premium soft-touch materials at multiple places, gloss elements on the steering wheel with upgraded buttons, a fully digital instrument cluster, blind view monitoring, a seven-speaker sound system, an electronic parking brake, a 360-degree camera, a 10.25-inch floating infotainment system and many more.
The host mentions that Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are yet to be loaded into the infotainment system. The SUV also offers a wireless charger, driving modes, steering modes and dual-zone auto AC.
The major highlight of the XUV 3XO’s interior is its segment-first panoramic sunroof, which the brand calls the Skyroof. The competitors only offer a single-pane sunroof. The host mentions that the lower variants of 3XO offer a much smaller single-pane sunroof.
He also adds that the car misses out on ventilated and electrically adjustable seats. Regarding the second row, the host states that the 3XO offers decent space. Amenities in the second row include multiple storage spaces, three adjustable headrests, AC vents, a Type-C charging port and a 12V socket.
The host says that there has been negligible improvement over the XUV 300, but the boot space still feels inadequate. Some of the cars in the same segment offer much better trunk space. This space can be further increased by folding the rear seats, which come with 60:40 split functionality as standard.
MX3 Variant
After showing the top variant, the host gives us a walkaround of the MX3 trim. At the front, it features the same DRLs, but the headlights only have a single LED projector. Instead of alloy wheels, this variant rides on 16-inch steel rims. Being a lower variant, it misses out on features such as keyless entry with push-button start/stop, 360-degree camera, rear spoiler, rear wiper with washer, and defogger.
Mahindra XUV 3XO Variants Explained
The host mentions that this is the cheapest variant of the 3XO, which features a sunroof. Unlike the top variant, only a single-pane sunroof is available in this trim. Interior features in this variant include a twin-dial instrument cluster with MID, cruise control, steering-mounted multimedia controls, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, steering modes (normal, comfort, sport), and a wireless charger.
AX5 Variant
Over the MX3 variant, this trim offers 16-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, a wiper with a washer and a defogger. However, the host does not talk about the interior features of the AX5 variant. The pricing for the XUV 3XO starts at Rs. 7.49 lakhs and goes up to Rs. 15.49 lakhs ex-showroom.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO has retained the same petrol and diesel options as the XUV 300. This includes a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit producing 110 PS & 200 Nm, a 1.5-litre diesel engine delivering 117 PS & 300 Nm and a 1.2-litre TGDi turbo-petrol engine producing 130 PS and 250 Nm of torque. All three engine options can be mated to a 6-speed manual. The diesel engine can be opted with a 6-speed AMT, and the petrol engines can be paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearboxes.
