Timothée Chalamet Leveled up a Clean Black Suit With a $246,000 Diamond Necklace

Timothée Chalamet has been pulling off some serious fashion stunts lately. In all baby pink Chrome Hearts, in Chanel scarves and leather jackets, and in full-on Bob Dylan cosplay (including blond wig). So perhaps the biggest sartorial surprise the actor could spring on us at this stage would be to go simple, classic, and refined—which is exactly what he did at the BAFTAs on Sunday night.

On the red carpet in London, Chalamet shelved the eccentricities and wore a custom black double-breasted suit by Bottega Veneta. Featuring a cropped jacket that brought the hem up to the hips, the trousers featured a roomier cut that puddled over black boots. Underneath, a plain black T-shirt. As with all looks from the Venetian house, the suit was elevated by its minute details, from the triangle motif on the chest pocket to the subtle pleating on the waist of the trousers.

But while the rest of the look leaned understated, Chalamet’s Cartier necklace kicked things up a notch. His Panthère de Cartier piece featured a white-gold panther anchored across two tennis necklaces, studded with a pair of emerald eyes, 17 sapphire spots, an onyx nose, and 556 diamonds totaling 17.45 carats. (You juuust missed Valentine’s Day, but you can still pick this baby up for a cool $246,000, FYI.)

Chalamet missed out on the best actor trophy on Sunday—the honor went to The Brutalist‘s Adrien Brody—but thanks to that dazzling Panthère grail, he still went home with the evening’s most impressive hardware.
