Walton Goggins Dressed Like a Space Cowboy at the GQ Men of the Year Party 2024

You’d think one of television’s more famous cowboys would be down to stay in his comfort zone for a party with an American Rodeo theme. You’d have thought wrong. Walton Goggins, he of Justified and Fallout fame (the former seeing him play a cowboy in spirit, the latter in actuality), eschewed cowboy cosplay at GQ’s Men of the Year party in favor of, well, freaking it.

The actor hit the red carpet in a generously unbuttoned sheer shirt and a wide peak-lapeled tuxedo jacket, adding a slight (but not totally obvious) Western touch with a patterned belt and some chunky silver rings that would look right at home on the hands of any Nashville star. He finished the look off with a pair of futuristic wraparound shades that looked anything but western. Despite not incorporating a Nudie suit or a cowboy hat, the whole ensemble basically worked.

Goggins has stealthily been cementing his status as one of our more adventurous dressers for some time now. It’s not even the first time we’ve noticed him leaning into the sheer shirt/peak lapels look. He crushes soft tailoring and is inclined to lean into billowy shirts and revealing fabrics. One might think that the whole hipster cowboy look would be more his speed, but Goggins will be the first to tell you that it’s not really him. “I’m not a cowboy, but I can pretend to be a cowboy with the best of them,” he told GQ on the red carpet.
